Fill the gap in your smile with a natural-looking bridge

If you’ve lost a tooth through accident, trauma or extraction, a dental bridge can reliably restore your gap and help you achieve a full and confident smile. Made from strong and aesthetic materials, bridges closely match your natural teeth and use the surrounding teeth as support. In most cases, crowns are fitted over these abutment teeth, with the replacement tooth acting as a bridge between them.

Why choose a dental bridge?

It is important to replace missing teeth in your smile, not just because it can really affect confidence. Replacing teeth prevents the remaining teeth from shifting out of position, causing alignment issues. It also protects the otherwise vulnerable gums.

Bridges can prevent the premature need for dentures, and are a more secure alternative to partial dentures as they are fixed in place. We can also use a bridge in combination with implants to replace more than one missing tooth.

What does the treatment involve?

We first make sure that the teeth that will support the bridge are healthy and strong. They are then prepared by removing a layer of enamel.

We take impressions of the prepared teeth. These are sent to the dental laboratory. While your bridge is custom-made, we provide you with a temporary bridge to protect the exposed teeth.

When ready, we check your bridge, making sure it fits perfectly and making small adjustments if necessary. Your bridge is finally fixed in place with strong dental cement.

Types of bridges

Conventional bridges use crowns on the teeth on either side of a gap for support. These teeth, called abutment teeth, are prepared by having some enamel removed. A replacement tooth, or pontic, is attached to the crowns to bridge the gap.

Adhesive bridges require minimal drilling of the surrounding teeth. They use metal or ceramic wings to secure the false tooth in place. These bridges are best for teeth with small or no fillings, and can be a cost-effective option.
