Matt qualified at Newcastle Dental School in 1998. Following university, he spent four years in the Royal Army Dental Corps, during which time he toured Bosnia and Kosovo. In April 2003, he joined Leyburn Dental Practice as an associate before becoming a partner in 2006.
Matt has continued his professional studies, completing a postgraduate diploma to gain membership to the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (MFGDP) and has been awarded the coveted Diploma in Implant Dentistry from The Royal College of Surgeons of England. His main professional interests are cosmetic and restorative dentistry, including implants, and he is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology.
Rachael qualified at Newcastle Dental School in 2006. After qualifying, she worked in mixed practice in South Tyneside and County Durham. She also previously held the role of Foundation Dentist Trainer (Educational Supervisor) for the Northern Deanery for a decade.
Rachael has undertaken extensive postgraduate training in the field of aesthetic dentistry and facial aesthetics. She became a member of the College of General Dentistry in 2011 and has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry.
Rachael enjoys all areas of dentistry but has a particular interest in clear aligners and providing facial aesthetic treatments. Rachael is an accredited Save Face Practitioner, which is a Government-approved register for non- surgical cosmetic practitioners in the UK.
Rachael joined Leyburn Dental Practice in October 2018 and became a partner in 2023. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, socialising with friends, and long walks with her dog Nala.
Lucy qualified from Newcastle University in 2005 and has taken on a variety of postgraduate courses. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry but has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics.
Lucy joined Leyburn Dental Practice as an associate in February 2025.
When not at work, Lucy really enjoys the outdoors, walking in the countryside, running, swimming and going to the gym.
George qualified from Newcastle University in 2015 and went on to serve as a dentist in the Royal Army Dental Corps from 2015 – 2025. George joined Leyburn Dental Practice as a full-time associate at the end of 2025, having settled in the local area with his family.
George is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (England), having passed his postgraduate MJDF examinations in 2017. He has also achieved his MSc in Restorative Dentistry from Birmingham University, studying from 2021 to 2025. George has recently qualified as an Invisalign Provider and can offer aligner therapy in conjunction with other aesthetic treatment options.
George’s main professional interest is in Restorative Dentistry. This includes providing routine composite fillings, aesthetic composite bonding, crowns, bridges, and managing cases of advanced tooth wear. George is particularly interested in developments in digital dentistry and the use of 3D scans and CAD/CAM technology to advance the delivery of dental treatment.
Originally from New Zealand, Fiona came to the UK in 1996 on a working holiday and is yet to go home! She trained as a dental nurse in New Zealand in 1992, and then trained as a dental therapist and hygienist at Leeds University, graduating with distinction in 2007.
Fiona joined Leyburn Dental Practice in 2008 following her second round of studies.
Elinor graduated from Teesside University as a dual dental hygienist and dental therapist in 2020, after dental nursing for 10 years.
She went on to complete postgraduate Foundation Dental Therapist training in 2021, and joined Leyburn Dental Practice in May 2023.
Outside of work, Elinor enjoys walking with her two mischievous dogs, riding her horse, and clay pigeon shooting.
Kelly graduated as a dental hygienist in 2007 from the Defence School of Dental Hygiene and has worked at various military bases all over the world including a post as a dental hygiene tutor. She has also worked in private practices in Hampshire and Wiltshire.
Kelly is committed to providing a patient-focused, professional dental hygienist service, helping her patients feel at ease during their visits.
Kelly joined Leyburn Dental Practice in September 2019 after relocating to North Yorkshire with her family and dog Ruby.
Toni gained her Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy with honours from the University of Liverpool in July 2016. She joined Leyburn Dental Practice in April 2024.
In her spare time, Toni enjoys fishing, shooting and walking her 10 dogs.
Carol joined Leyburn Dental Practice in 1999. She is a qualified dental nurse and oral health educator.
Sandra joined Leyburn Dental Practice in 2001. She is a qualified dental nurse and sedation nurse, and also holds her NVQ 2 in Business and Admin.
Sarah joined Leyburn Dental Practice in 2010. She is a qualified dental nurse.
Penny joined Leyburn Dental Practice in 2013. She is a qualified dental nurse.
Sarah joined Leyburn Dental Practice in August 2017. She qualified as a dental nurse in June 2020.
Karen joined Leyburn Dental Practice in September 2024 and is working towards her dental nursing qualification.
Kelly joined Leyburn Dental Practice in April 2025 and is working towards her dental nursing qualification.
Rachel is a qualified dental nurse and oral health educator. She also holds an NVQ 2 in Business and Admin and an NVQ 3 in Management.
Rachel joined Leyburn Dental Practice in 1990. Her wealth of experience is invaluable, and she is a key part of the daily running of the practice.
Sharon joined Leyburn Dental Practice in May 2018.
